Project Update: New WordPress Restaurant Website Voucher Systems are a go!
I have been working with Nonni’s Italian Eatery now for about 6 years. They were one of my first freelance clients, and this week I am happy to present the latest revision to their WordPress restaurant website platform. This latest version of Nonni’s WordPress restaurant website features:
- Moved site to new hosting provider for better speed performance
- Completely Upgraded WordPress system to 3.2.1
- Upgraded Infocus theme architecture from MySiteMyWay to version 2.1 from 1.6
- Properly installed and customized child theme customization
- Graphical and Functionality Upgrades
- New VoucherPress plugin integrated, tested and running
There was quite a bit of shifting and moving of assets to get this site up and running the way we wanted it to and the way I know it needed to be. The online vouchers system was the main driver of all the upgrades the system. This is a plugin for WordPress called VoucherPress, it’s a pretty slick little plugin. VoucherPress lets you create your own vouchers, design your own background templates, set your availability (how many and or how long) and then if you want to require email sign up to download the processed PDF it creates and emails a unique link to the registered party to download and print from your site. But what’s the best thing about VoucherPress? The fact that it makes it SUPER EASY to download a CSV file of all the names who download your vouchers. This makes it fast and efficient to move those names into a marketing database of your choosing like Salesforce or MailChimp.
The rest of the upgrades to the design, hosting, framework and theme were all done because of the move and to properly secure the site for the foreseeable future. One of the most important things to say on top of when dealing with a WordPress site is to keep your versions current. Not only do you miss out on useful feature upgrades when you don’t but you also don’t get the latest security patches either. So while this system upgrade did smooth out some usability and functionality issues with the site it more importantly added a bunch of new security layers to the site.
The new hosting, framework, theme, plugin and performance upgrades are going to do wonders for Nonni’s Italian Eatery in generating more foot traffic in their restaurants. You can have a website that will do that for your business too, and I can help you get it.
